Concerts at the Roman Theatre start at 8.30pm
with open singing
Each evening features a different concert with professional ensembles of very high level. Don’t miss groups such as Sequenza 9.3, the Calliope women’s choir, the group Tenebrae, the Solistes de Lyon, the Percussions à Claviers de Lyon, the internationally-renowned pianist Michel Béroff, the superb Schola Juvenil of Caracas, the Real Group, the humour of the vocal quintet Witloof Bay with the beatboxer Roxerloop, the group Voces 8, the astonishing cantata Dogora for choir and orchestra, workshop concerts for the final two nights (Saül, Faust, Robert Ray’s Gospel Mass…) and other surprises which will brighten the Theatre.

Transatlantic, opening evening of the XXèmes Choralies
A mix of cultures to open these twentieth Choralies with three exceptional ensembles • The chœur de femmes Calliope conducted by Régine Théodoresco,
• The Ensemble Sequenza 9.3 conducted by Catherine Simonpietri,
• The Schola Juvenil of Caracas, conducted by Luimar Arismendi and Ana Maria Raga, has been founded by Maria Guinand and Alberto Grau: A youth choir born in the suburbs of Caracas which has found a meaning to life through singing.

Celebration of the 20th Choralies with the Vocal Ensemble Tenebrae
Choralies have invited the Vocal Ensemble Tenebrae to celebrate their 20th Anniversary.
This professional ensemble of 16 singers comes from the Covent Garden and the National Opera.
Their exceptional voices suit Renaissance music as well as contemporary pieces.
They are directed by Nigel Short, former King's Singers member.

Rhythms and songs
• A full orchestra with only 5 musicians : the Claviers Percussions de Lyon playing marimbas, vibraphones and xylophones, exploring and bypassing genres in a re-creation of our time’s music.
• Roxorloops, world Vice-champion of beatboxing, puts his incredible range of mouth sounds at the service of the 5 professionnal singers of Witloof Bay, a pop and jazz a cappella vocal group from Belgium.
• Eight former choristers of the Westminster Abbey founded the Voces 8 group in 2003.
From Gibbons to Gershwin, from jazz to pop arrangements, their presence and theatrical creativity are amazing.

"Dogora", a symphony of words that sing
Extensive musical suite for choir and orchestra (Orchestre Symphonique des Alpes conducted by Martial Renard) written in "Dogorian" imaginary language of the gipsies from Dogora. Etienne Perruchon has invented this language that collects many vocal traditions.
A partying evening full of emotion.

The Real Group
The a cappella vocal quintet, born in the Royal Academy of Music of Stockholm has given over 2500 concerts around the world ! Full of talent, humour and simplicity, the Real Group will take you into a magical evening : vocal jazz in its pureness, with the voice as only instrument.

From Earth to Heaven, Faust and Gospel in the same concert!
A contrasting evening, build with to of the Choralies Ateliers.
• Gounod, Berlioz and Schumann have decided their cause : Méphistophélès or Faust. These different approaches will be presented in a one-show, with the Symphony Orchestra of the Alpes.
• Robert Ray’s Gospel Mass. Mix the contemporary music of the Afro American church to the original tradition of the liturgy, with a jazz trio as support! .

Closing evening of the XXèmes Choralies
• The Requiem by the Swedish contemporary composer Nils Lindberg, conducted by Fred Sjöberg, for soloists, choir and big band will mix with the interpretation of the large choirs from Saül oratorio by Haendel conducted by Mark Shapiro. An occasion to discover how religious inspiration of the composer’s goes with their time. Two ateliers of the Choralies will perform these pieces.
• Internationally renowned pianist Michel Béroff will close this 20th edition of the festival with the Fantasy for soloists, choir, piano and orchestra by Beethoven.
The symphonic orchestra of the Alpes will perform with the atelier Saül and the Choral Fantasy and the Big band "Jazz factory" the Lindberg atelier.
Invitation will be offered for the Choralies in 2013.
